It's intentional that these glyphs are orientated horizontally rather than vertically; if you want to lay out an arpeggiato line using a run of text, it's much more convenient to do this horizontally and then rotate the result than to attempt to use e.g. line breaks to ensure a good connection (given that side-bearings can vary for every glyph, but line spacing is global to the font).

As for poor connections between the glyphs, you have no doubt worked out that it is intended you use U+EA89 (wiggle upwards) with either U+EA8B (upward swash) or U+EA8D (arrowhead up), and use U+EA8A (wiggle downwards) with U+EA8C (downward swash) or U+EA8E (arrowhead down); other combinations won't work.

You are correct, though, that U+EA8E should be mirrored vertically, such that the arrowhead points to the right and the wiggle at the left-hand side curves downwards (as it does with e.g. U+EA8C). This is an error in the current version of Bravura, and I will fix this in the next revision.
