Finale for example, copies a shape vertically by a fixed amount, demanding
a vertical shape of a certain hight to give smooth overlaps between the
wiggles.
That’s the approach I
take in my software Mozart (http://www.mozart.co.uk) too. I haven’t
found any disadvantages. If SMuFL doesn’t have a vertical wiggle
element (sorry I’ve lost track) then one would be useful for software that does
that.
