For plain alphanumeric characters that don't have a specific style
particular to music engraving, the expectation is that you will choose a
text font. SMuFL does define several sets of digits (time signatures,
tuplets, figured bass, etc.), but all of these normally have a specific
appearance in music that isn't easily achieved using a standard text font.
You might find that the figured bass digits are suitable for use as
fingering digits if you are looking for a particular appearance sometimes
used in published music.
