Absolutely. It's important that SMuFL is practical.
However, I'm not in favour of blindly adopting every practice that all
extant music fonts might be using simply because it has already been done:
I had specific reasons for making SMuFL a superset of the Musical Symbols
range in Unicode (so that there would be a greater variety of fonts that
utilise that range and make it useful), but I don't think it's a good idea
to make SMuFL a superset of every other music font.

I think by my own reasoning these glyphs ought to be moved to be stylistic
alternates rather than encoded at separate codepoints, actually. I'm not
in any way pretending that every decision I have made to date in putting
SMuFL together is inviolable!
