[smufl-discuss] Re: "Music Enhanced Text Fonts" (Slightly OT)

David Webber-2
I have now redefined the 'Music Enhanced Text Font' specification at

<http://www.mozart.co.uk/information/fonts/music-enhanced-text-fonts.htm>

so that the symbols it includes in the Unicode private use area, conform to
the SMuFL code point specification.  There are some such fonts available at:

<http://www.mozart.co.uk/downloads/fonts-music-enhanced-text.htm>

Philosophy: my objectives are

(a) that you can write 'Sonata in F# minor' and 'Bb Clarinet' (and simple
note/chord names) with accidental (etc) symbols in the same style as the
characters of Latin alphabet.
(b) you can do this is simple contexts like Windows NotePad (which don't
allow font changes, superscripts etc) and where the more esoteric features
of OTF are not necessarily supported.

Therefore, though the code points comply with SMuFL,  the placement and
sizing of symbols have to be different from the Bravura Text metrics.
