It's important to remember that SMuFL 1.0 is not intended to be the end of
the road. I fully expect there to be further versions of SMuFL in the
future. So the removal of the wind fingering charts from SMuFL 1.0 does
not preclude their later restoration. I intend to try to find a way to
produce these charts without requiring the use of zero-width characters,
but I need to devote my energies elsewhere in the short term. So think of
the removal of these fingering charts from SMuFL as a temporary measure
while a more suitable technical solution is found.
