Yes, I agree with this sentiment. But it's the stupid amount of ways of
representing those components that cause the problem.

I'm glad you raised the issue, and I would still welcome any suggestions
for any further unique symbols (i.e. not letters and numbers that you can
find in any text font) that are required by chord symbols. The range in
SMuFL currently contains only the circle (diminished), slashed circle
(half-diminished), + (augmented) and triangle (major 7th). I guess perhaps
it should also contain - (diminished) to partner the plus, since that is
sometimes used. Any others I'm missing?
